Covid-19 surge: Kerela announces lockdown from May 8 To 16

Thiruvananthapuram, May 6: Keeping in view of the galloping cases of Covid-19 in the state, the Chief Minister of Kerela, Pinarayi Vijayan announced that the state will go under a complete lockdown from May 8 to May 16 to restrain the rising cases of the virus. The Chief Minister took Twitter to share the information. “The entire state of Kerala will be under lockdown from 6 am on 8 May to 16 May. This is in the background of a strong second wave of COVID-19,” he tweeted. Earlier, a day before he hinted about a possible lockdown as he mentioned serious situation of Covid-19 calls for imposing more restrictions in the state. Presently, night curfew was enforced from 9 pm to 5 am, with semi-lockdown-like curbs during weekends to curb the rising cases in the state but it could not restrict the rise of the cases in the state.
